Date & Time: 17 January 2023 at 10am (GMT)

Academic careers are unique. You’re expected to serve your students, conduct high-quality research and to build an international reputation for your scholarship. The job requires years of education; writing, speaking and teamworking skills; data and tech literacy; curiosity and creativity; and time commitments outside the typical 9 to 5.
There is no one path to career success in academia, but there are lessons that can be learned from others who have gone before you – or might even be working alongside you. This webinar will answer questions about academic careers in several countries and offer advice on everything from salary negotiation to networking to choosing the right supervisor. Chaired by THE Campus editor Sara Custer, invited speakers are:
- Kylie Message-Jones, Director of the Humanities Research Centre at the Australian National University.
- Catherine Léglu, Vice-rector for academic affairs at the University of Luxembourg.
- Sarah Birrell Ivory, Director of the Centre for Business, Climate Change and Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh.
